AMES LAKE IS SPECIAL!

Maintaining lake health is one thing that all of us who live on or near the lake know and confidently agree with. We seek to find common ground with the entire community on the most practical and safest way to manage invasive, noxious weeds, and it is the lily pads that are the largest current challenge.

Friends of Ames Lake (FOAL)is a group formed by homeowners who live on the lake and are most impacted by invasive lilies. They have always been at the forefront of any movement to manage them. Not all homeowners have lily pads, but the majority do.

FOAL is proactive. We understand that many hopeful solutions have been tested over the years and been unsuccessful for a variety of reasons. These past efforts have led us to a strong, manageable solution that works well, is approved by the EPA, State of WA, and other organizations, and leaves everyone confidant that we remain strong stewards of our lake.

Our objectives include:

  • To maintain the health of the lake for all who have access to it and for the nativevegetation and creatures that live in its habitat
  • To provide accurate information to all homeowners in the plat so each can make informed, fact-based decisions.
  • To consider the pros and cons of all options through a lens of effectiveness, viability, safety, history, budget, available volunteer time, and much more.

The Friends of Ames Lake is a separate organization from the ALCC, the Ames Lake Community Club.
